Last night Council received two delegations including:
· update from Mosaic Forest Management on forestry, economic activity, and land stewardship (presentation attached)
· Ladysmith Arts Council reported they were successful in obtaining a grant ($250k+), but were still in a deficit.
They asked that Town assist with their project by not delaying their required permits to move forward with their project. They are hold a ‘Bid for the Build’ and art auction to support the future of the Arts and Heritage Hub. (www.ladysmitharts.ca)
Development applications for 12 Roberts Street – the old Antique Attic building which will be seeing a second story added to the back of the building and 422 Colonia Drive South which is a new a 2 unit building with secondary suites in each.
Ladysmith Seniors Centre received a grant in Aid for $800
A water bill adjustment request was received and approved.
----Water bill adjustments are often approved for water leak issues that are not noticed until the bill arrives. In order to qualify ensure that this request is made to the Town as soon as noticed and the issue that created the large bill must be fixed----
Additional funding of $50,000 was approved for Lot 108 Phase 2 (Forest Field) to address drainage issues.
The updated fees schedule for facility rentals was provided and approved.
Staff provided an update on the potential automated solid waste collection and will putting out Request For Proposal (RFP) for a supplier and contractor to assemble and deliver the new waste containers.
