Wondering how you can get more involved with initiatives around Ladysmith? Friends of Holland Creek hosts many events throughout the season to help keep our glorious outdoor spaces looking great!
No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm! We hope to see you out there.

May 3, Sunday. 2 pm – 4 pm. Lower Holland Creek. Community Broom Cut. Meet at the corner of King Rd and Roland Lane near the Estuary Trail head. We will start from Hwy 1A and work northwards. If needed, we will revisit the estuary area.
May 4, Monday. 10 am – 12 noon. Transfer Beach. Community Broom Cut. Meet in the Kinsman Hut to have coffee with Friends of Holland Creek. We will be tending the native plant beds and doing broom busting and invasive work along the park edges and towards the pedestrian tunnel.
May 8, Friday. 7 pm – 9 pm. Frank Jameson Community Centre Program room - to be confirmed Post Bioblitz iNaturalist Identification Party to identify the observations recorded in iNaturalist during the Bioblitz. Contact hollandcreekinvasives@gmail.com if you are interested in participating so we can confirm details, location and numbers.
May 9, Saturday. 10 – 12:30 pm. Holland Creek Estates. Community Broom Cut. Meet in the Holland Creek Estates on Rollie Rose Road and Colonia Drive. The priority is to work along south edge of Holland Creek. There is also dense broom on the uphill side of the estate under the hydro lines and on the gated, undeveloped, cleared areas. We will also check the area by the entrance which was cleared last year.
May 11, Monday. 10 am – 12 noon. Holland Creek Estates. Meet in the Holland Creek Estates on Rollie Rose Road and Colonia Drive. Continue to cut along the edges of the estate, under the hydro lines and on the gated, undeveloped, cleared areas.
May 18, Monday. Victoria Day 10 am – noon. Holland Creek. Community Broom Cut. Arbutus Hump/upper Holland Creek. Meet in the parking lot by the waterwork, vehicle access is available via Thetis gate. If you plan to come this way, please contact hollandcreekinvasives@gmail.com to arrange for the gate to be opened. We will continue to clear the area around the waterworks and towards Arbutus Hump and check areas cleared last year.
